Kovačević Winery participated in the prestigious Wine Salon this year, organized by Compania de Vinos Montenegro, which took place in the Lazure Hotel in Herceg Novi. The event brought together fifty wineries from the region, with more than 500 wine labels, and the special attention of the visitors was attracted by the educational master class lectures.

Organic production in focus

One of the most important segments of this year’s Wine Salon were the educational lectures, which enabled professionals and wine lovers to become more familiar with the latest trends and techniques in winemaking. The Kovačević Winery participated in one of the key master classes, dedicated to organic wines and organic production , and the lecture was led by the Winery’s chief oenologist – Dušan Karas .

Through detailed analysis and discussion with the audience, the labels Chardonnay S, Sauvignon S, Aurelius S, Amber Cuvée, sparkling wine from Probus and PRO PRO were presented. These labels represent the pinnacle of Kovačević Winery’s commitment to organic production and nature, the authenticity of terroir and methods that preserve the essence of fruit and soil.

Winery Kovačević proudly cultivates over 100 hectares of organic vineyard, which is perhaps the only one of its kind in Southeast Europe as a unique unit.

A special emphasis is placed on Aurelius S, a wine that recently won a gold medal at the prestigious Bergamo judging, confirming its status among the most valued organic wines of the region. The audience followed with great interest the story about long macerations, minimal interventions in production and the way in which organic vineyards contribute to the top quality of wine.

Master class as a place to exchange knowledge and experiences

During the master class, the sales representatives of the Kovačević Winery – Branislav Ćaćić and Saška Andrić, had the opportunity to talk to a large number of visitors, many of whom are restaurateurs, sommeliers and wine distributors. Their interest in organic wines and sustainable production methods shows that the awareness of the importance of natural wines is growing and that there is an increasing need for wines that bear the stamp of authenticity and environmental responsibility.

One of the key moments of the lecture was the interactive part, where the participants had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the challenges and advantages of organic production. Topics such as the impact of organic farming on grape quality, weather conditions that can be a challenge in organic viticulture and trends in the global organic wine market were among the most interesting.

The region’s wine scene and prospects for organic winemaking

The wine salon showed that winemakers from the region are increasingly committed to quality and sustainability. With over 500 wine labels and eight distilleries, visitors had the opportunity to explore the variety of flavors and techniques applied throughout the Balkans.

Such events are an ideal opportunity to connect with people who share the same passion and vision, but also to exchange experiences with colleagues from other parts of the world.

Reactions of visitors and the importance of such events

A large number of visitors showed interest in the wines of the Kovačević Winery, especially for wines with longer maceration and those produced in amphorae. This technique, which goes back to the deepest history of winemaking, is again becoming relevant among organic wine lovers, and Fruška gora is increasingly positioning itself as a region that nurtures this tradition.

Through conversations with sommeliers and restaurant owners, our representatives received valuable feedback on how organic wines are quoted on the market and what are the key features that set them apart from the offer of exclusive establishments. The interest in organic wines clearly shows that consumers are increasingly looking for wines that are not only of top quality, but also the product of an ethical and environmentally responsible approach.

Connection with Fruška Gora and future steps

As a winery that laid its foundations on the southern slopes of Fruška Gora, we are proud to be able to represent our terroir at events like this and to convey the spirit of this specific region through every sip of our wines. Our goal is not only to produce top quality wines, but also to be ambassadors of organic winemaking and to encourage other winemakers to turn to more natural growing methods.

In the future, we plan to continue researching old wine techniques, as well as developing existing and new labels that will further strengthen the organic offer and show the richness of taste that organically grown grapes from Fruška Gora can provide.

Gratitude to the organizers and impressions

We thank the organizers of the Lazure Wine Show for their flawless organization and hospitality, as well as the opportunity to present ourselves in such a prestigious environment. Such events are of inestimable importance for the wine industry, because they not only enable the promotion of wine, but also encourage dialogue, exchange of knowledge and the spread of wine culture.

We look forward to new opportunities to meet wine lovers and fellow winemakers, believing that the future of winemaking lies in quality, sustainability and commitment to authentic values.
